Chye Seng Huat Hardware Coffee Bar

Really random lunch at Chye Seng Huat Hardware today with mummy and cousin. So rush that I didnt take enough pictures and didnt have the chance to sit and chill longer. I will definitely head back again. :)

Though it was lunch time, my tummy was having the morning blues. Decided to try their Pancake Stack. They were really soft and moist, a lil sweet towards the end.

Mummy and cousin ordered Smeared Dory Fillet and Trio Sausage Platter. I tried the dory, it was really good. Sausage platter looks damn delicious too.

And of cos, we must have a cuppa latte each.

Muffins overload

Off for 2 days. Decided to bake muffins. And, TA-DAR! Recipes taken from Muffin Receipes

Banana Chocolate Chip Muffins

Ingredients list:
1 medium egg
1 ½ cups of flour
¾ cup of milk
¾ cup of chocolate chips
½ cup of brown sugar
½ cup of puréed banana
¼ cup of vegetable oil
3 teaspoons of baking powder
½ teaspoon of salt
½ teaspoon of cinnamon
¼ teaspoon of nutmeg

Instructions:
1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Grease a muffin tin and set aside.

2. In large bowl combine egg, milk, banana, and oil. Mix to combine.

3. In small bowl sift together flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.

4. Slowly mix dry ingredients into egg mixture until just moistened, but still lumpy. Fold in chocolate chips.

5. Fill muffin tins until 2/3 full. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of one of the muffins comes out clean.

Raspberry Cheesecake Muffins

Ingredients list:
1 cup fresh raspberries
3 eggs
1 cup sugar
1 3 oz. package cream cheese
6 Tbsp butter
1 cup milk
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
2 1/2 tsp baking powder
2 cups flour
1/2 tsp salt

Instructions:
Preheat oven to 400°F. Grease muffin tin or alternatively line each with paper cases.

1. In a bowl, beat together the cream cheese with ¼ cup of sugar, 1 egg and ½ teaspoon of vanilla until completely smooth. Set aside.

2. In a saucepan, combine butter, milk and remaining vanilla. Stir continually over medium heat until butter has melted. Set aside until cooled.

3. Beat eggs into butter mixture.

4. In large bowl combine baking powder, flour, salt, and remaining 3/4 c. of sugar. Add butter and milk to mixture, and stir until just combined. Gently fold in raspberries.

5. Fill muffin tins until 2/3 of the way full, and top with 2 Tbsp of cream cheese mixture on top of each muffin.

Bake for 20-25 minutes until muffins are springy but firm.

Coastes

Due to all our busy busy bumble bee schedule, we will always try to meet up once a month or to celebrate each other's birthday. And so this time round, we met up for the month of March and also to celebrate Yiling's and my birthday. THANK YOU GUYS! LOVE YOU THIS BUNCH OF USS PEEPS!

The food at Coastes was not too bad. Nice ambience with great company. Just that, the evening was disturbed by mossies as Coastes is located along the Siloso beach. Fret not! I bought Tiger Balm's mossie repellent patches. The night went on we our usual casual talks about work and a lil about army life. And when it was time to bring the cake out to celebrate, DUH! Epic fail..again. The staff brought the whole cake out with it inside the box, and the box still in the plastic bag. OH COME ON! I burst into laughter and was closed to tearing. We can never have a successful birthday surprise. Nonetheless, I'm still thankful for this celebration. Lots of love! Muacks!

Toby's Estate

Met up with Rae and we decided to go to the central area for our brunch. Toby's Estate! We have been viewing too many nice pictures online that we need to see the place and taste the food. THE REAL THING! :) Since we've decided on that area, girls being girls, we wore pretty dresses and heels.

It's my month, so Rae treated. YAYY! Thanks sweetie pie! Simply love how the interior is set, the whole concept of the place.

Latte, $5
Affogato with vanilla bean ice cream, $7.50

Eggs Benedict, $14

At times I do wonder how people eat their poached eggs. I will put the whole egg into my mouth, bite it so that the yolk will burst inside. That's how I enjoy my poached. How about you? :)

We wiped out everything within 10-15 minutes. That's how hungry we were and how yummy the food is. And not forgetting to take a picture together to end our lunch date. The background made our picture so pretty!

Carpenter & Cook

We've known each other for a long time. 18 years. Our clique has always been meeting up twice yearly? On CNY and Christmas. This don't work. We need to meet more than just twice a year! That's how it all started. And we've started it without the guys.

Need to put in more effect and so we shall meet once every month and hop around Singapore to try different food and cafes. Our cafe hops starts today. First cafe we visit together, Carpenter & Cook.

Carpenter & Cook is located at Lorong Kilat. A quiet lane of Bukit Timah area. Lots of antique and furnitures in the cafe. They are both used as decorations, at the same time, they are for sale! I would say the cafe isn't small, but isn't that big too. Thank god, Jas arrived first and managed to get a seat for all of us.

So hungry that I needed proper food first. The only thing that can fill my tummy was a quiche. Tried their Bacon and Onion Quiche. Really good. The onion is so soft and sweet and doesn't has that raw taste.

And only when I ate properly, then I can move on to desserts. All 3 different plates of desserts are just sinfully awesome. A mixture of sweet and sour.

It being our first cafe hop together, how can we not have a picture to remember this day right? *cheecky grin*
